The Fitzrovia Trust
The purpose of our website is to share with you the important contribution the Trust is making towards preserving the historical heritage and unique character of Fitzrovia. We will provide latest updates on our work and current priorities as well as provide you with a forum to share issues of interest or concern affecting the Fitzrovia community.
Established in 1985 the Fitzrovia Trust’s approach is underscored by the desire to play a significant role in the development of the local community. We believe that cultural heritage is part of a common past and is a source of community identity. The preservation of historic buildings of noted architectural significance is one way of providing a tangible focus for people allowing them to touch and connect with the past.
The Trust believes that working at the preservation of heritage can produce meaningful outcomes for society. This means working with local authorities, housing associations, local enterprises and other interested stakeholders to identify opportunities which can make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives.
We have thus adopted a strategy of acquiring vacant and run down properties of noted architectural and historical significance and bringing them back into beneficial use for the community. This process enables people of differing generations to share experiences, exchange know-how and promote integration of the local community.
Like the rest of London, Fitzrovia itself has become a very diverse community. We are very keen to ensure that the membership and Management Council is reflective of the community it serves. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a member or getting involved with the work of the Trust.
